Interprint Malaysia Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary of the Production Facility
1996 – The First Investment by a European Decor Printer in Asia / New Showroom Strengthens Customer Service

Nilai (Malaysia). The Interprint Group celebrated the 10th anniversary of its production facility in Nilai (Malaysia) on 20 October 2006. Nearly one hundred guests from ten countries came to simultaneously learn about current decor trends and inaugurate the new showroom.

In his welcoming speech, Thomas Wrede, managing partner of Wrede Industrieholding (Interprint’s parent company), emphasised the pioneering role taken on by the company with the start of production in the Asian market ten years ago. He compared the investment decision with the first trans-Atlantic crossing by Charles Lindbergh and his ‘Spirit of St. Louis’. It was due to the ‘Spirit of Interprint“ that Interprint was the first decor printer to found its own production facility in Asia.

Siegmund Maierbrugger, Sales/Marketing Director of Interprint Malaysia, elaborated: ‘Interprint – ahead of the trend’ will also apply in the future. In 1996 we were the first fully equipped decor printer with our own printing-cylinder engraving and chrome plating in Malaysia. At the beginning of 2006, Interprint set a new quality standard with its own laser engraving at the headquarters in Germany. And now we are taking another step in terms of customer service with the new showroom here in Malaysia.“

In his speech, Herbert D. Jess, German Ambassador in Malaysia, emphasised the efficiency of the German companies, especially the medium-sized industry, represented in the country. He was convinced that the economic, political and cultural relations between Germany and Malaysia will be further expanded and strengthened in the future.

Looking back at the period of industrial expansion of the location, Interprint’s Managing Director, Klaus-Dieter Mayer, also confirmed: “We were enthusiastic about the level of tolerance with which the different cultures live together here. This fact and the infrastructure, the geographical location and the political security were just a few reasons for the selection of Malaysia as a production base.“

Jointly with the German Ambassador, Herbert D. Jess, Interprint’s Managing Director, Klaus-Dieter Mayer, inaugurated the new showroom. At the touch of a button and accompanied by fireworks, a curtain of blue and white balloons and a small zeppelin airship rose and symbolically invited the guests to the new decor exhibition. Salvatore Figliuzzi, Decor Development Manager of Interprint Germany, then presented to the guests the exhibited current trends and decor innovations for the furniture and flooring segments in 2007. The celebration ended perfectly with a typically German brewery evening.
