Interprint Secures Efficient Goods Flow to Customers Through RFID
Free flow of information: The international décor printer has again positioned itself as a technology leader in the market by using digital identification of paper rolls.
Optimisation of production processes and a smooth goods flow – these are the benefits of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). The technology allows contactless reading and storing of product information. Interprint has been using RFID in its receiving department for more than a year and the system has also been active in its décor shipping department since 2008. Through early implementation, the company is setting new standards in the décor printing market. The results are internal logistics benefits for Interprint’s customers.Volker Manthey, IT Manager at Interprint said, “With RFID, our customers logistically integrate Interprint in their production process and thus enjoy many benefits. All system entries are performed directly and automatically. Information is assigned close to a product. The contactless system also prevents the type of errors that can happen with a manual reading.”
To allow an RFID identification, the Interprint décor paper roll is equipped with a transponder, also called a ‘tag’, that transmits the data by radio to a reader (RFID gate). When a roll leaves the Interprint factory, the RFID gate in the shipping department automatically requests the identification of the roll. An electronic delivery note with information on the roll such as width, substance weight or grammage, is produced simultaneously.
Interprint customers can also optimally use this communication between the transponder and the RFID gate in their data flow. This applies for goods receiving, where the décor paper rolls are identified and for subsequent production processes. The paper roll data can be read at any place, for example, in front of the impregnation channel. This greatly simplifies the internal flows.
Volker Manthey said, “RFID is the identification system of the future and will therefore be successively installed at all Interprint locations. Our factory in Poland will be equipped with the technology later this year. This again makes Interprint a market leader in the use of cutting-edge technologies.”
