Interprint receives award for highest production reliability

The Interprint production location in Arnsberg has been awarded the “HPR status” for the best risk minimisation possible

On 11 August 2008, the Interprint production location in Arnsberg was awarded the “Highly Protected Risk” rating by the property insurer FM Global. The worldwide largest property and business interruption insurer grants the “HPR” award only to those locations that, by means of concrete measures, have minimised the probability of occurrence and the extent of potential damage in the best possible form. The objective: continuous and optimal production and delivery reliability.

After Interprint USA, Interprint in Germany is the second location of the company group that has achieved the “HPR” status. Now, the remaining Interprint production facilities are to follow successively.

Gerhard Hochstein, Chief Technology Officer at Interprint: “At Interprint, effective risk management is practiced every day. This includes organisational and technical measures that either already existed or that have been worked out in close cooperation with the FM Global engineers. Together with the experts, we have identified existing dangers and related risks and – on this basis – worked out concepts for reducing the existing damage potentials.”

The package of measures for the damage prevention and minimisation ranges from preventative measures, an appropriate sprinkler protection, a sufficient water supply and fire-protection programmes to the maintenance of buildings and systems and the emergency organisation with the local fire brigade. In this connection, the minimisation of the fire risk by combustible materials (like paper) and combustible liquids was a special challenge.

Statistics of the insurer clearly show that the damage frequency and the damage amount are directly connected with a location’s risk exposure. In this connection, Dipl.-Ing. Ralf Kuperjans from FM Global said: “Analyses comprising several years have impressively proven that the actual damage at locations with HPR status is many times lower than at non-HPR-classified locations – with regard to both, the frequency and the extent of the damage.” Manfred Wach, Commercial Manager at Interprint, adds: “Thanks to our active risk management, we achieve a high degree of production and delivery reliability and it can be proven that this is an important criterion for our customers.”
