Quality Guideline Decor Finish Foils

In future, users of decor finish foils are able to compare the qualities of existing products more easily and select their foils on the basis of consistently determined properties. In collaboration with the Institut für Holztechnologie Dresden GmbH (IHD) and other leading manufacturers of decor finish foils, Interprint has therefore devised a standard basis for testing and assessing decor finish foils.

The new Quality Guideline prescribes how standardized ecological and physical properties as well as usage properties are to be tested and declared. Interprint is now declaring 13 relevant properties of its products - as will all other decor finish foil manufacturers that were involved in drawing up the Quality Guideline. These are the properties thickness, grammage, degree of gloss, opacity, surface tension, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, scratch resistance, Tesa adhesive strength, adhesive strength, light fastness, formaldehyde emission, and migration behaviour.

The new quality mark "Factory Production Control according to IHD-Quality-Guideline for Decor Finish Foils" distinguishes decor finish foils that have been tested to the IHD Quality Guideline.

Decor finish foils that have been tested to the specification of the IHD Quality Guideline by the independent and accredited test laboratory of the IHD, Entwicklungs- und Prüflabor Holztechnologie GmbH (EPH), can obtain a special test certificate.
